Where possible, accessible entry points are located at the main venue entrance but otherwise our Front of House staff will gladly assist you at your venue.
Most of our venues are general admission unless indicated on your ticket and people usually line up early to get their choice of seats.
If you have access needs or specific seating requirements, please make yourself known to the venue front of house staff and they will assist you.
Some venues, like Darkfield’s shows in shipping containers, are immersive shows, with strong use of light and sound. They may not be suitable for people with sensory sensitivities. Check show pages for more information.
As a guide, here are the distances in metres from the Main Entrance to the Venue, closest Accessible Bar and Closest Accessible Toilet.
If these distances seem too far, please get in touch with us via our access form and we can hopefully provide some other options for you.
Below is information about the depth, height, and width of some of our seating.

There are lots of places to meet family and friends within The Garden.
Some handy meeting spots can be
To the left of The Garden Box Office (this is on grass so if you need more level grounding, on the Right hand side might be better)
Inside the Main Gate, behind the box office. There are some tables and generally away from the crowds at the front of the gate.
QUIET SPACE
Our new quiet space within The Garden is located near The Box venue.
Our quiet space provides ample shade, low lighting and is designed to help individuals who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or distressed to come and settle for as long as you need.
We will have some comfortable seating options, bean bags, noise reducing elements to create a quiet atmosphere, cooling systems, water, sensory tools and toys available.
No bookings required, you are welcome to come and go as you please.
Please ask any of our team if you need assistance. Staff will be wearing a Staff Lanyard and can either be seen in The Garden tshirt – or at the Bars or outside Venues or Entrance Gates.
Please note our team is unable to assist with using toilet facilities or transferring visitors from wheelchairs to seats.
We will have signage directing visitors to the venue. We also have a map online that will list all the venues, rides, amenities and stalls.
Because we are outdoors and in summer, The Garden can be guided by the elements.
In order to make your day in The Garden as cool as possible, we’ve got a few things in place:
All venues have air-conditioning so you can enjoy the show without breaking a sweat. We also give the venues a big hose-down to keep them cooler for longer.
There’s free water on site. Stay hydrated by grabbing free drinking water at any of our bars. We also encourage you to bring your own refillable water bottle to help us reduce waste.
We have plenty of shady areas around the site so you can eat, drink, dance and explore without feeling the burn!
Bringing your own food
If you’ve brought your own food, remember that as The Garden is licensed you are unable to bring in alcohol or any other liquids (only empty bottles) that can be filled up with water from many water stations. But feel free to enjoy your snacks within the Garden.
Buying food or drink
We have so much on offer so you can have a look on what is on offer here
As most of our venues are general admission, we usually have a line starting at the venue prior to the start time of the show. We always recommend getting to The Garden early. One to find your venue and give yourself time to be comfortable prior to the show.
If you have seating requirements or need to sit rather than stand in a line, speak to our wonderful Front of House staff at the venue and they will look after you.
They may ask to see your ticket. This may be QR code you have on your phone, printed email or you may have printed out the ticket at the box office. The staff will scan your ticket and keep you informed when they are allowing the audience into the venue.
If you have special requirements you may go in ahead of the rest of the group. Please follow the instructions of the Front of House staff who are there to assist you.
Experiencing live performance differs for everyone and different shows encourage you to enjoy them in different ways but that’s what’s exciting about live performance. However, there are a few similarities for most performances. Photography or video or mobile phones are usually not allowed once the show starts. There are various reasons for this, but mainly it’s to not distract the performers or others in the audience. This may change based on the performance and they will tell you if that is the case.
When the performance is ready to begin, the lights may change, and the room may become darker.
Our front of house will remain in the venue throughout the performance in case anyone needs assistance. Should you need to leave the venue at any time, that’s okay, just head to the exit and our staff will assist you. Depending on when you leave you may not be able to return to your seat. Our staff will keep you informed.
When a performance finishes there might be a queue to exit the venue, take your time, follow the guidance of our staff and we’ll get you out as soon as possible.
To leave The Garden, you will head back the same way you entered at the main gate unless otherwise directed by staff.
During an Auslan-interpreted performance, a qualified interpreter is positioned in a clearly visible location and translates the spoken dialogue and key sound elements into Auslan for D/deaf audience members. The following events will be Auslan interpreted

Wed 18 March 18:30 – Tom Gleeson – The Vagabond
Tue 24 February 20:00 – Celia Pacquola – The Paragon

The following events are relaxed performances
Sea Star Rock, Rock The Wild all performances
Upsound Instruments al performances
Tactile tours are a specialised guided experience designed for individuals with sensory impairments, such as those who are blind or have low vision. During a tactile tour, participants have the opportunity to explore and engage with objects, artworks or exhibits through touch, sound and other senses.
Currently no shows are listed with Tactile Tours.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative
he Garden is proud to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative.
Many disabilities aren’t visible — in fact, most people living with disability show no outward signs at all. That can make it tricky to ask for support, or for others to recognise when a little extra understanding might help.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a friendly, easy way for people with non-visible disabilities to signal that they may need a bit more time, care or assistance. The symbol — a bright yellow sunflower on a green background — can be worn as a lanyard, badge, wristband, or however feels right for the wearer.
You’ll see this program in action at The Garden of Unearthly Delights during the Festival. Some of our team will be wearing white sunflower badges to show they’ve had extra training and are ready to lend a hand. Of course, every member of The Garden crew is here to help — just ask.
Curious to learn more? Visit the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower website for more info.
What kind of chairs are at the show?
The kind of chairs and audience set up varies from venue to venue across the Festival. Venue seating information is listed above
